Found this. Success! But what is it, exactly? Have any insight to share, Oppo?

Mercedes W112. Appropriately nicknamed the fintail

Absolutely. That is a Mercedes W111, the second car that might be considered an “S-Class”.

I was unaware this was considered the S-Class for the time

Yup, although the W112 was basically the same car with higher trim, so it was more S-Class-ish.
Visual difference is that this W111 has smaller fins.

There’s a white one parked outside a shop near my house. I should get a pic. Poor thing hasn’t moved in weeks.

Pretty sure it’s a car, but I’m not positive.

There’s one at a shop near my school too. It’s rusted pretty bad and I’m kind of sad since it’s one of the few old Mercs that I can actually distinguish and know the nickname for.

This one looks clean. Not sure why its been sitting. They often have one or two high quality junk sitting out front, either crash damaged or visibly abused (mismatched wheels, air suspension shot, etc).
I think Wisconsin’s version of Tavarish must work there.

Oh I always thought the difference was the headlights

Probably either a 220S or 220SE based on the chrome and headlights

No that was just by year I think. The later W111s also had the larger fins, but I believe the W112 only ever had the big fins. I could be wrong about all of this.

Thanks! I wonder what the market’s like on these puppies. Will google if I get a chance. Busiest Friday I’ve had all year... and all I want to do is learn about an old MB!
